Start with a readable source

Photograph the complete receipt in good light. Keep the merchant, date, items and totals visible. Avoid glare and check that the smallest text is readable before putting the paper away.

If the receipt is already an image or PDF, import that source instead. A clear record gives text recognition a better starting point.

Store purchase details alongside the file

CheckoutKeeper helps identify merchant, date, total and item details when available. Review the extracted information and correct anything that is unclear.

Saving those details alongside the source makes a receipt easier to find than a picture with a generic filename.

An item can be your best clue

When a receipt supplies enough information, individual items help you return to a purchase even when you do not remember its total.

Make retrieval part of the system

A receipt library should work when you remember only part of a purchase. Search receipt details, or browse by store, category or location.

Keep the original image or document connected. If a field is missing or you need more context, return to the source instead of guessing.

Choose storage room that fits your needs

The CheckoutKeeper Free plan holds up to 50 currently stored receipts. Deleting a receipt makes its slot available again. Premium provides unlimited stored receipts.

Before discarding a paper original, check whether the retailer or organization you may need to contact accepts a stored copy. Digital organization is not a guarantee of acceptance.
